Rehearse & prove your work
Change tempo & key
Practise a song slower, faster, or in a different key without it sounding wrong.
Steps
- 1
Open a Backing Track, a ScratchPad, or a Rehearse setlist.
- 2
In the tempo box, press Detect and the app analyses the audio and fills in the BPM. On a blank pad you can simply type the tempo you want instead.
- 3
Use minus and plus to move the tempo one BPM at a time. The pitch stays where it is.
- 4
Type a number straight into the tempo box and press Enter to jump to that tempo.
- 5
Use the transpose arrows to move the audio up or down by semitones. The real key is shown — D, D♭, C — not a number.
- 6
Tap the key or the tempo value itself to put it straight back to the original.
Tips
- The click track follows the tempo, including detection and every later change, so the two never drift apart.
- A ScratchPad uses the key you set in the pad details as its starting key.
- Tempo and key changes are for playback only — the files in your drive are never altered.
- Included from the Pro plan up.
Troubleshooting
- Detect returns an odd number — songs with a heavy backbeat sometimes read at half or double time; adjust with the plus and minus, or type the right tempo.
