The short version
My Music ToolKit is a player and organizer for music you already own. Your audio files, lyrics, charts, and recordings stay in your own cloud drive. We store the account details and the library information needed to run the app — nothing is sold, rented, or used for advertising.
Information we store
- Account details: your email address, display name, and password (stored as a one-way hash by our authentication provider).
- Library information: song titles, authors, keys, version tags, playlists, favorites, comments, play counts, and references (file IDs and paths) to files in your cloud drive.
- Cloud drive connections: access credentials issued by Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox when you connect them. These are encrypted before storage and are used only to list, read, and write the files you ask the app to work with.
- Support information: bug reports you submit, including anything you type into those forms.
Your files stay yours
We do not copy your music library onto our servers. When you play a track, the app streams it from your cloud drive through a proxy so playback works in the browser and on iOS. Recordings you make with HotTake or ScratchPad are saved to the cloud folder you choose.
Microphone and recordings
The microphone is used only while you are actively recording a HotTake, a ScratchPad take, or a multi-track layer. Recording never starts on its own. If you enable transcription, that recording is sent to a speech-to-text service to produce the text, and the resulting text is saved to your chosen cloud folder alongside the audio.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to operate the app: our hosting, database, and authentication platform; the cloud drive you connect (Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox); a transactional email service for invites, notifications, and password resets; and a speech-to-text service used only for transcription you request.
Sharing links
When you share a song, playlist, or file, we create a link containing a random token. Anyone with that link can view what you shared until you revoke it. Share only with people you trust, and remove the share when you no longer need it.
Children
My Music ToolKit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
- Disconnect any cloud drive at any time from the Files → Drives screen.
- Delete your account from the Profile screen. This permanently removes your account, library information, playlists, and stored drive credentials. Files in your cloud drive are left untouched.
- Request a copy of your library at any time — the Archive feature downloads your songs and assets as a single ZIP.
