Play along to a click

Steps

   Open Rehearse and go to the sub-menu, then the Click section.

   Turn Click on. It starts when you press play and stops when you pause, with a steady tone on every beat.

   Set Beats per bar to 2, 3, 4 or 6 to match the song.

   Use Click volume to balance it against the recording.

   Turn on Click only to silence the song and hear the click by itself — the song keeps running underneath, so the scrub line and page turns still work exactly as normal.

   The click follows whatever tempo is showing, so if you detect the BPM or nudge the tempo up and down, the click moves with it.

   The first time you use the click on a recording, the app finds where the music actually starts and lines the first beat up with it.

   If it's slightly out, use the Nudge slider to move the click earlier or later — up to half a second either way. Press Re-align to have another go automatically, or Reset to go back to zero.

Tips

• Your nudge is saved for that recording, so it's right the next time you open it on any device.
• Click on, volume and beats per bar are remembered on the device you're using; Click only switches itself off when you move to another song.
• Files exported with a bit of silence at the front are the usual reason a click sounds out — that's exactly what the alignment fixes.
